The mission of the First Ward Community Center is to make a difference in people’s lives. We strive to help families achieve a greater degree of self-sufficiency by providing comprehensive social services to community and client-expressed needs throughout Saginaw County.

We provide effective, organized and extended opportunities for learning outside the regular school and workday for families. Our goal is to motivate, encourage and empower economically-disadvantaged families and individuals who are at-risk. We seek to provide them substantive marketable skills that will allow them to gain a higher sense of self-worth and competence.

We strive to re-socialize our program participants by instilling in them a greater sense of optimism and by creating a community-based support network, which can assist them in becoming productive and self-reliant citizens.
